The Vauxhall Corsa

The Vauxhall Corsa has been around since 1993; in the UK it replaced the Vauxhall Nova. In many European countries the Nova was already named ?Corsa?, to bring in a global naming convention the ?Nova? name was dropped in the UK. The Corsa in Belfast is Vauxhall?s 2nd best selling model, behind the very popular Astra. There have been a few variants of the Corsa; 3 door hatchback, 5 door hatchback and in some European countries there is a saloon model too.

The Corsa D was unveiled in 2006 and is the current model; it is based on GM?s Gamma Platform which was developed by Opel in conjunction with Fiat. As a result the Corsa shares its platform with the Fiat Grande Punto. A year after its unveiling the new Corsa won What Car? ?Car of the Year 2007?

In 2011 Vauxhall gave the Corsa D a facelift to bring it in-line with its other models. On the outside the Corsa has been given sharper lines and incorporates Vauxhall's new Griffin badge. The front bumper is a noticeable change, it has been restyled with deeper lower grills and chrome surrounds for the fog lights.

As part of the facelift the Corsa is now available with five new funky colours, Lime Green pearlescent, Chilli Orange metallic, Guacamole, Sunny Melon! In May of this year Vauxhall released the most powerful Corsa ever - The Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring Edition. The special edition model has the VXR 1.6 litre turbocharged engine tweaked to now produce 205PS. It can do 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 143mph.
