I have been employed by the same hairdresser since I left school. I started on the modern apprenticeship scheme and when the salon owner retired I took over as the manager. Over the past ten years I have had a great time developing the salon, taking on clients and running my own business. This week I am leaving all that behind and although I am a little sad, I am also excited about being a full time mum. My husband is a very high profile surgeon and as a consequence I do not need to work. After the birth of my two year old son I was adamant that I did not want to give up work. I wanted my independence and I wanted to continue working within the business that I had built up. However I am not expecting a second child and have decided that it makes sense to be a full time mum. I am looking forward to being able to have a lot more time with my little boy. As I work fairly long hours I don?t often have the opportunity to read his bed time story or just be able to sit and watch his favourite TV program, Roary The Racing ,Land Rover Dealer Car. Once the other little one comes along I know it is going to get a lot more stressful. I fully intend to enjoy the calm before the storm. Who knows, after a few weeks with a tiny baby and a two year old, I might be begging to go back to work for a rest!
