Is That Really An Aston Martin?

Think about Aston Martin for a minute. What images or stereotypes come into your mind? Expensive, elitist, luxurious, James Bond? Now picture a Toyota IQ and stick an Aston Martin badge on it. Strange? The Aston Martin Cygnet is actually derived from the Toyota IQ but I am told that there are a lot of differences. Lets find out. First of all there is the price! The entry level of the Toyota IQ starts at only ?9995 but the Aston Martin Cygnet starts at a massive ?30,000! So what exactly do I get for my money? First of all the Aston Martin Dealers car will have the necessary Aston Martin Branding, iconic wing badges but I am not sure that that alone will convince people that they are getting their money?s worth. What else does it offer me? The interior is apparently as far away as possible from the standard interiors of the Toyota. Hand trimmed luxury leather seats and interior branding really make this car feel like a luxury city commuter. And they also throw in a luxury five piece leather luggage set. Still not convinced? Well neither am I. I started to ask myself the question as to why Aston Martin would produce such a car and I soon found the answer. Apparently the sale of the Aston Martin Cygnet is designed to significantly reduce the companies fleet emissions. Now its starting to make sense. It was originally only available to current Aston Martin owners but it is not being made available to the world, makes you think they couldn?t shift them. I can?t imagine seeing a lot of these cars on the road and if I do I am really going to wonder as to why somebody would shell out big bucks for a car they could buy for a third of the price.
