Ford is an iconic name in the car manufacturing world, having established the first mass production facility to build the Model T during the first decade of the 1900s. The Eco Boost engines for the Ford C-Max deliver sustained and economical performance, and are available in a choice of petrol or diesel. The Eco Boost petrol 1.6 litre engine delivers a low 154 g/km of CO2 emissions and can achieve 42.8 mpg for combined fuel economy. The 1.6 litre TDCi diesel Eco Boost engine delivers a very respectable 61.4 mpg combined fuel economy and an even lower 119 g/km CO2 emissions. Eco Boost motors are designed as high efficiency engines to significantly improve fuel economy and to cut CO2 emissions.
As would be expected the Ford C-Max Eco Boost comes with plenty of safety features as standard, they include airbags and power child locks, as well as the standard body protection. The cockpit interior is easy to navigate, with clear dials and information available that is easy to access when driving.
A neat part of C-Max technology is the power-operated tailgate, so if the hands are full of shopping or children, the click of a button opens it up. Other standard features include a panorama roof, Ford PowerShift, a blind spot information system, one-handed seat folding, active park assist, hill-launch assist and Bluetooth with voice control.
Because it is an MPV, it is possible to take out the rear seats to create considerable additional boot space or, depending on the option purchased, create more shoulder and legroom by taking out just the middle seat. The configuration of the C-Max should suit most drivers and its electric power steering is an impressive advance on other systems, giving the feel a hydraulic system, but delivering a more sensitive steering experience.
Ultimately the Ford C-Max is an excellent drive, its six-speed transmission providing lightness and precision when changing gear, while the power of the engine make driving and overtaking on the open road efficient and speedy.
